NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management
Introduction
NEBOSH has collaborated on the development of this specialist qualification with the United
Kingdom’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The collaboration combines the advanced
technical ‘high hazard’ expertise of the HSE with NEBOSH’s ability to deliver strong
vocational qualifications.
This qualification aims to provide holders with the knowledge and understanding of process
safety management to ensure that they can contribute to the effective management of
process safety risks.
The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management is suitable for supervisors,
newly appointed managers, junior managers, safety representatives and newly qualified
health and safety advisors within the process industries, both inside and outside the UK.
The qualification is designed to provide a sound breadth of knowledge and understanding
that enables qualification holders to contribute to the management of process safety risks.
This qualification builds on the understanding already gained by studying the NEBOSH
National or International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
Important note: this qualification is not designed for process safety/chemical engineers with
extensive operational experience of working within the processing environment.

• Management of process risk

Training Methodology
This instructor led training is delivered using presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise and group work.
You will have the opportunity to interact with our experienced facilitator who will bring professional and research expertise into their teaching.
Assessment
Qualification assessment
Students are assessed by a 90-minute, 40 question multiple choice examination. There is no practical element to this qualification. NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management exams take place on a date chosen by your course provider. You should contact your chosen course provider for more information.
• Examination registration
Learners must be registered before they can take an examination. All examination registrations must be completed by an accredited learning partner.
• Examination entry confirmation
Once your learning partner has registered you to an examination, they will send you an Examination Entry Confirmation that includes your learner number and the regulations for you as a learner.
The learner number is the only identification that you may use on your examination scripts – scripts must not include your name.
The Examination Entry Confirmation is essential to gain entry to the examination room, you will need to show a form of photographic identification to the invigilator and then sign the Examination Entry Confirmation.

• Examination Results
You will receive your results within 15 working days of sitting the examination. Once you have achieved a pass a qualification parchment will be issued. This is normally within 20 working days of the confirmation of the successful unit.
Certification
Successful candidates will be awarded HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management from NEBOSH.
